The Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club has put up their Christmas tree in celebration of the festive season this year and it is currently one of the favourite focal points at the resort.

Not only is the Hotel’s Tree of Life an exceptional festive focal point, but it also recapitulates the Riviera on Vaal Resort’s evolution over the years. Not to mention its divinity and the fact that it has stood the test of time, which are some of the aspects associated with the Tree of Life. Other aspects associated with the Tree of Life include people, language and culture – three things that form a large part of tourism in South Africa and in effect also the Riviera on Vaal Resort. The Tree of Life is believed to be the connecting medium between people and their ancestors and that is also why the Riviera on Vaal’s Tree of Life fits the part perfectly as it resembles the connection of the Hotel’s visitors with its rich history. Many religions also refer to the Tree of Life as the sustenance that connects people with the earth and once again the Riviera on Vaal’s unusual, yet brilliant Christmas tree resembles that too. The Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club encourages people to connect with what the earth has to offer in more than one way: nature, food, wine, relaxation and also friends and family.

According to James Cameron’s Avatar movie, the Tree of Life “expanded to create life on Earth that evolved to human life with an expanding and ever-evolving consciousness.” That is why we as humans are becoming more and more conscious about our environment and why the Riviera on Vaal Hotel has used this tree as one of their Christmas decorations for 2012. Not only did the Hotel turn 85 this year, but it is also evolving in many ways, including taking on the challenge of becoming an environmentally responsible tourist destination. With the Tree of Life positioned in the Hotel’s reception area, it reminds us where we come from and where we’re headed.

Guests and day visitors at the Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club are encouraged to take photos of the Tree of Life and post it on their social media pages accompanied by the hash tags #treeoflife, #ROVtree and #Rivieraonvaal. Also visit the Riviera on Vaal’s Facebook Page or follow them on Twitter (@Rivieraonvaal) for updates on Christmas and New Year activities and events.
